For nearly 169 years now, the Merriam-Webster Dictionary has been in publication and available for the public to buy, use, and cherish in their homes. However, some entries in the dictionary are not quite as fortunate as the others. Most words have rhymes. However, one word in particular is famous, nay, infamous, for not having a rhyme. This word, small, colorful, fruity, can no longer be without a rhyme.

We, The Undersigned, intend fully on sending this online petition to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary to try and add the word "Sporange" to said document. Sporange, which will be noted in the document as a verb, is pronounced the same way as orange, only with the -sp sound in front of it. What does it mean? To sporange is the act of creating a new word for the dictionary, so that a word that was previously without a rhyme now has a rhyme.

No longer will people be searching for words that rhyme with words such as orange or purple. If sporange is in the dictionary, no longer shall words be without rhymes. So for the sake of rhyming in children's books, songs, and poems, MAKE SPORANGE A WORD.

    • 'sporange' is already in the OED as the Anglicised form of 'sporangium', a botanical term meaning a spore-generating sexual part of a plant.
