We, the young people of the world, think that being human being implies that we are, in the same time, sexual beings. Sexual and reproductive rights are human rights, and therefore apply equally to all the people of the world. We agree with the definition of reproductive health as defined in the International Conference on Population and Development Programme of Action as: A state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity, in all matters relating to reproductive system and its functions and processes. Reproductive Health therefore implies that people are able to have a satisfying and safe sex life and that they have the capability to reproduce and the freedom to decide if, when and how often to do so.
We are concerned about the recent international developments, where certain countries claimed to withdraw from the International Conference and Population Programme of Action. Withdrawing from it means withdrawing from:
Increasing investment in comprehensive reproductive and sexual health
education and services, and life management skills training, for all
women, children, and youth.
Securing the full realization of the sexual and reproductive rights
of women and girls.
Strengthening the role of education in addressing persistent gender
inequalities and empowering women and girls.
Responding to the challenges posed by the HIV/AIDS pandemic.
Accelerating progress in the eradication of poverty.
We want to be free and enjoy our sexual life, while being safe and supported by governments. We think that putting boundaries to our sexual and reproductive rights will influence our life negatively. No one has the right to put boundaries to freedom, but we know that there are governments have the power to do so.
We call governments to:
Not to put boundaries to the sexual and reproductive rights of young people and reaffirm their commitment the past international agreements that regulate these rights. We need to be supported in our path of life. Use the power you have together with a reasonable mind, looking towards the future with a young peoples perspective
