We the undersigned Witches of the United States, and their friends, family, and acquaintances do hereby submit this petition as a formal complaint to Sarah Palin, the McCain-Palin campaign, the RNC, and the Republican Party for its disregard of religious freedom in the United States.

It is the right of each and every citizen of the United States to practice their religion as stated in the Establishment Clause of the Constitution of the United States of America.

It is the duty and responsibility of our Nation's elected officials to both respect and protect the religious freedoms of its citizenry. Public and private statements and activities of officials and staff, contrary to this right, undermine the rights of every citizen regardless of their religious beliefs.

We do hereby call upon Sarah Palin, Governor of Alaska and Vice Presidential candidate, to take this petition as a formal complaint regarding the anti-Witchcraft statements made by the Rev. Thomas Muthee. Furthermore, we hereby call upon Sarah Palin to publicly repudiate those statements and apologize to the people of the United States of America who practice Witchcraft, and those whose relatives, acquaintances, and/or friends practice Witchcraft.

Included in this demand for a full apology and repudiation of Rev. Thomas Muthee and his comments, is the demand for all officers and staff of the Republican Party, the RNC, and the McCain-Palin campaign to immediately cease and desist in any and all public statements or actions designed to or having the effect of deprecating those of any faith, particularly Witches, in light of the words of Rev. Muthee.

    • That the then newly sworn-in Governor Palin could publicly "dedicate Alaska to Jesus" is a bald-faced attempt to disenfranchise all citizens of every non-Christian faith. This is shameful behavior from a public official sworn to "defend the constitution."
