We, the listeners of Hot 97 (WQHT) and family/friends/fans of Aaliyah Haughton, were outraged when morning show host Star made fun of the death of Aaliyah on August 27th 2001. Star has done horrible things in the past but this is the one that topped them all. Someone that would show total disrespect to the point of making fun of a person's death on the air for thousands of listeners to hear does not need to be on radio. Can you imagine the pain and heartbreak that the listeners felt when Star made a mockery of Aaliyah's death? Sure you didn't, because you were so worried about how many ratings you were going to get that day. Therefore, we are asking that you dismiss Star of his duties on Hot 97 (WQHT). We are also outraged at the fact there was no disciplinary action was taken. We now see that you are in it for the ratings and don't really care about what is said on your radio station and don't care about your listeners. We are here to say that such disrespect is NOT tolerated. If no action is taken after this petition is presented to you, this will result in a total boycott of Hot 97 (WQHT), by the listeners as well as the artists.

    • "Star" has no compassion. That little stunt he pulled was extremely distasteful. Would it be a joke if it were one of your relatives?

    • Some things are just not to be hated upon and death is one of them. The hate has to end. The Star and Buckwild morning show has lost all of it's draw in my opinion and I am sure that most folks share in my sentiment. Aaliyah or those on the plane that day don't deserve to be disrespected at this delicate time and Star should pray for forgiveness.

    • The world is in mourning over Aaliyah and not in the mood for his sour jokes. He is the reason I do not listen consistently to Hot 97 anyway...even before this tragedy. Some things are just not to made fun of. I hate his sick humor. He thinks he is getting laughs....most people despise his jokes.

    • My condolences to the family, friends, and fans of Aaliyah. Star has taken it too far. Why isn't there any discipline taken on him for this action? An apology is not enough.

    • I think this is the most insensitive thing HOT 97 has ever permitted on it's air ways. They should be more contientious of the comments made . They need to know that comments like these hurt the family as well as the fans. Aliyah's death was a very tragic one. She hould be remembered and honored for her talent and not made fun of or defamed.

    • Just sad that individuals will result to such demeaning things, just to boost ratings. He'll parish for the same things that Miss Aaliyah parished for "things" and we will see how his ass is remembered

    • The Constitution protects free speech. We have the right to free speech but certainly not the right to profit from the pain of others. I am disgusted and outraged by Star's words and actions. There was NO humor in what he said and did. Bad taste is just bad taste. An apology is not sincere just because someone says it is. I hope Hot 97 takes this petition seriously and recognizes the power of young people with technology at their finger tips and the Constitutionally protected right to turn the dial.

    • As Star said this morning on the radio after profusely apologizing for the comments he made on air yesterday, "Everyone does not appreciate our brand of humor." For the most part this is a true statement. However, his comments and the actions by him and the producers of the Hot 97 morning show were not humorous at all but more like crass, insensitive and extremely hurtful. By saying what he said and playing the audio clip of a plane crashing he not only disgusted the listening audience but he also devalued the lives lost in that tragic accident. He offended the family, friends and loved ones of the victims and was extremely unsympathetic regarding their loss. My heart and my prayers go out to all of them. May all of the victims rest in peace.

    • I think that is pretty disgusting where someone can indulge in someone else tragedy. This really shows the type of station you run, and the type of message you send out to your listeners. I for one will never listen to your station again. I hope the ratings were worth it.
