We, the listeners of Hot 97 (WQHT) and family/friends/fans of Aaliyah Haughton, were outraged when morning show host Star made fun of the death of Aaliyah on August 27th 2001. Star has done horrible things in the past but this is the one that topped them all. Someone that would show total disrespect to the point of making fun of a person's death on the air for thousands of listeners to hear does not need to be on radio. Can you imagine the pain and heartbreak that the listeners felt when Star made a mockery of Aaliyah's death? Sure you didn't, because you were so worried about how many ratings you were going to get that day. Therefore, we are asking that you dismiss Star of his duties on Hot 97 (WQHT). We are also outraged at the fact there was no disciplinary action was taken. We now see that you are in it for the ratings and don't really care about what is said on your radio station and don't care about your listeners. We are here to say that such disrespect is NOT tolerated. If no action is taken after this petition is presented to you, this will result in a total boycott of Hot 97 (WQHT), by the listeners as well as the artists.

    • I'm orginally from NY now living in NC i just recently heard about the comment Star made about Aaliyah's death i feel that it was un called for and he should have some action taken against him. I also feel like there should be some action taken against Hot 97 for allowing him to be so disrespectful on air.

    • I think it is horrible for this kind of act to happen (especially from a radio host!), specifically to a precious, sweet, harmless, helpful, down-to-earth "Queen" like Aaliyah! She made brilliant, good, respectable, talented, and precious music. She never harmed, spoke ill of anyone. She deserves much more respect, honor, and sympathy than what that horrible radio host Star did!
