University of Wales, Lampeter - Bring Back St. David

We the undersigned believe that the University of Wales, Lampeter is and should remain the finest university in the United Kingdom that specializes in liberal arts and humanities. However, in the increasingly competitive world of higher education, the institutions effectiveness has been hampered by the somewhat anonymous and uninspiring title of University of Wales, Lampeter, which was imposed upon it in 1994.

We therefore believe that, as the University approaches its bicentenary and as was the case throughout practically all of its long and proud history, St. David should once again find its place within the Universitys name. We believe that this will emphasize the Universitys fine traditions and illustrious past, will provide it with an impressive brand name in a crowded and competitive market-place and will honour the great nation of Wales, which as its oldest degree-awarding institution the University has served for nearly two hundred years.
