This petition is to stop Governor Paterson from appointing Caroline Kennedy for the open US Senate seat in New York. It is time for Republicans and Democrats to come together to stop an individual with no political experience whatsoever from becoming a US Senator because of her last name. Oligarchy was destroyed at the creation of our great country and should not be brought back by Governor Paterson.

- There are a number of very qualified, wonderful women from NY who can fill this seat Gov. Patterson. I am definitely very liberal, but that doesn't mean that every person with the name Kennedy should be handed a seat in high power in our government. This is embarrassing and outrageous. Please give the seat to a women from NY with qualifications worthy of a senator.

- Hasn't America had enough of political dynasties? Since 1980 either a Bush or a Clinton has been POTUS or VPOTUS. In a country populated by 300 million people, what kind of democracy is that?
