STOP CAT MASSACRE IN BEIJING! URGENT!

Thousands of cats are being abandoned, caged with no room to turn around, beaten to death with sticks, and killed or left to die by their owners in the streets of Beijing, as the government demands a "clean up" in time for the Summer Olympic Games in August of 2008. Owners are being paid 200 Yuan to abandon their pets in the street, where the government places the terrified cats 20-40 to a small cage, and leaves them to rot and die terribly diseased and in great pain in barricaded "shelters". The government has decided the demands that the city to be "as clean as possible" before the Olympic games begin in August of 2008. We the undersigned demand the Chinese government immediately cease this appalling,inhumane, barbaric practice, and that the Olympic Committee IMMEDIATELY acknowledge and address this issue, which is unbecoming to the Olympic ideals of "respect for universal moral principles".

    • I will boycott the Olympics, or rather, any corporation that supports the Olympics. I will watch the advertisements during the Olympics in order to identify the companies who advertise during broadcasting of the event and the sponsors who support the Olympics with their billboards, etc. at the event. Then I will write down those companies and not purchase products made by those companies.

    • Please take immediate steps to try to halt this barbaric practice! It is causing people to feel revulsion and is reinforcing negative stereotypes about the Chinese people and their country. China's efforts to "clean up" in this manner are counterproductive, to say the least.
