We, the fans of the professional ice hockey team the Toronto Maple Leafs, petition Leafs General Manager Brian Burke to sign unrestricted free agent forward Mats Sundin to a one-year contract. While the Toronto Maple Leafs are rebuilding, the best way to accelerate the development of such young, valuable players would be to bring world-class skill and leadership to the dressing room. In this case, the best example of these qualities would be undoubtedly Mats Sundin, the captain of the Maple Leafs for 10 years. Mats Sundin is one of the greatest players to wear the Maple Leafs' jersey ever, and should be allowed to conclude a so far exemplary career where he belongs - in Toronto, wearing a Maple Leafs jersey.

    • Great young team, Mats should be brought in to provide an example to these guys and teach them how to perform under the pressure of playing in the NHL. He's also one of the better free agent forwards available. Just don't expect him to perform up to his previous totals.
