Lannйe derniиre, les taxes municipales des agglomйrations fusionnйes de Montrйal et de Kirkland ont augmentй de plus de 12.5\% par rapport а lannйe prйcйdente. Laugmentation injustifiйe des taxes municipales de Kirkland semble inйvitable (voir ci-dessous) а moins que nous, rйsidents de Kirkland, ne prenions des mesures immйdiates.
1. А cause de la monopolie du maire et des conseillers de Montrйal et leur manque de concerne pour les municipalitйs defusionnйs, il est probable que les taux de taxes concernant lйvaluation rйsidentielle augmenteront (disponible а http://evalweb.cum.qc.ca) а nouveau au profit des autres municipalitйs.
2. Le gouvernement quйbecois a affirmй quil йtalerait les taxes scolaires dans les 3 annйes suivantes pour attйnuer limpact des nouvelles йvaluations. Ainsi, une autre augmentation nous attend.
3. La prйvision budgйtaire de la ville de Kirkland na pas encore йtй complйtйe. Tout de mкme, la ville a indiquй dans le dernier issue d Info Kirkland quil y aura une augmentation des taxes municipales.
Йtant donnй laugmentation de la taxe municipale de lannйe passйe et lactuelle augmentation de lйvaluation rйsidentielle, il est probable que les rйsidents de Kirkland devront а nouveau payer plus que leur juste part des taxes scolaires et municipales pour les annйes а venir. Pour sйlever contre ceci, nous, des rйsidents concernйs de Kirkland, avons dйcidй de prendre les mesures qui simposent et avons requis au Conseil municipal de Kirkland du 6 novembre 2006, que les membre du Conseil fournissent а leur concitoyens les informations concernant leur plan daction visant а faire pression sur le gouvernement provincial de Quйbec et le Conseil municipal de Montrйal pour rйduire le fardeau fiscal municipal et scolaire des rйsidents de Kirkland et leur fournir les dйtails du budget de Kirkland et de laugmentation du taux de fiscalitй des annйes а venir.
En signant cette pйtition, vous adressez un message clair au maire et au Conseil municipal de Kirkland, au Conseil de lagglomйration de Montrйal et au gouvernement provincial de Quйbec et manifestez votre dissatisfaction quant au taux de taxation des rйsidents de Kirkland. This petition is only open to the Town of Kirkland residents, 18 years of age and over. Please encourage other members of your household to sign this petition. Feel free to pass along this petition to family, friends, and neighbours that also reside in Kirkland.
Last year, combined Kirkland and Montreal agglomeration municipal taxes increased over 12.5\% from the previous year. It seems that more unjustified tax increases for Kirkland residents are inevitable (see points below) unless we take some immediate action.
1. The new 2007 to 2009 property evaluations for Kirkland have increased (available at http://evalweb.cum.qc.ca), ranging from 33\% to 60\%. Due to the Montreal Mayors and Councillors monopoly on the Montreal Agglomeration Council and their lack of concern for de-merged municipalities, it is likely that the tax rate for this portion of our tax bill will, once again, be unfairly increased to benefit other municipalities.
2. The Quebec government stated that it will spread the school tax increase over the next 3 years to lessen the impact of the new evaluations on homeowners. This means that another increase is to be expected.
3. The Town of Kirklands budgeting process has not yet been completed. However, the city has indicated in the last issue of Info Kirkland that there will be an increase in municipal taxes.
Given the past years municipal tax increases and the current property evaluation increases, it is likely that Kirkland residents will, once again, pay more than their fair share of municipal and school taxes for the upcoming and future years. To combat this, we, a number of concerned Kirkland citizens, decided to take action and have requested from the Mayor and Councillors at the Kirkland Municipal Council meeting on November 6th, 2006 to provide its residents a) information regarding Kirklands action plan to lobby the Quebec government and Montreal Agglomeration council for reducing the school tax and agglomeration tax burdens on Kirkland residents and b) Kirkland budgeting details and the tax rate for the upcoming year.
By signing this petition, you are sending notice to your Town of Kirkland Mayor and Councillors, the Montreal Agglomeration Council, and the Quebec government on your dissatisfaction with their levels of taxation on Kirkland residents. Please make use of the additional petition entry fields which enables us to keep you informed of any developments on this issue and also provides an indicator of your dissatisfaction to all levels of government.

- i' m sorry to say but it has to stop eventually...i find the tax system unfair...not all people who have kids in school pay school taxes...i have a child in university and then i pay twice....i had moved to kirkland because they better than the other cities,but it is the same everywhere....eventually the money will run out and then people will have to react....enough is enough..let's stand for our rights....

- There is no justification for the increase in taxes. All of the outrageous tax increases have not fixed the road system which is dreadful,the public health system which is incurable,and the public education system which continues to fall far behind the private school system. Give these fascist bureaucrats a taste of their own medicine.Don't pay the taxes and see how big a jail they can build to put us all in.
