We the undersigned hereby announce our disdain and rejection of actress Maria Bello as Evelyn Carnahan OConnell, Luke Ford as Alex OConnell, writers Alfred Gough, Miles Millar, director Rob Cohen and all of the materials and performances they provided and presented in the film The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.
We the undersigned hereby petition Universal Pictures on behalf of the future success of The Mummy franchise to recast Rachel Weisz in the role of Evelyn Carnahan OConnell, Freddie Boath as Alex OConnell and contract Stephen Sommers as writer and director for all future films in this franchise.
As both diehard fans and casual viewers of the first two Mummy films we not only request but implore Universal Pictures to consider the contributions made by both Weisz, Sommers and Boath as valuable, if not invaluable elements, detrimental to the future success of the franchise.
As diehard fans, we have found ourselves lost and disappointed in the direction and plot path created by writers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar with direction from Rob Cohen in The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. As informed and intelligent fans we understand the writing and direction guides an actor or actress and show no disdain or ill will towards any of the new cast members. However we remain steadfast that for the franchise to continue successfully, the chemistry created by the original cast is imperative and can only be achieved by the direction from Mr. Sommers in combination with the performances of Ms. Weisz and Mr. Boath.
As casual viewers we were made blatantly aware of the lack of chemistry between the original cast members and the newly cast actors. As casual viewers we are forced to suspend disbelief to the extent required by average soap opera standards as newly cast actors by sheer age alone do not fit the timeline or cannon of the original films.
It is now the twenty first century, the flow of communication between studios and fans has grown immeasurably. Ignoring such a wealth of available information regarding the elements needed to make a Universal Pictures Mummy franchise a success would be catastrophic for this established franchise as the core of its success is dependant upon satisfying its diehard fans.
We the undersigned hereby agree to support future Mummy films and features only if Universal Pictures employs Ms. Weisz, Mr. Sommers and Mr. Boath and we hereby formally announce our rejection of any further Mummy franchise features which would exclude Ms. Weisz, Mr. Sommers and Mr. Boath. Including but not limited to theater ticket purchases, DVD purchases, clothing, toys, soundtracks and any other tangible merchandise or digital media created without the involvement of Ms. Weisz, Mr. Sommers and Mr. Boath.
