Re: The Wildcat Sanctuary and Meme, the tiger
The Wildcat Sanctuary plays an important role not not only to the animals of Athens Township and Minnesota, but also to the people and community where it resides.
Thousands of places call themselves sanctuaries, only 14 are accredited to house wildcats and The Wildcat Sanctuary has had to meet the toughest standards in the industry to be accredited.
It is extremely important for Athens and other townships and cities to have a credible, reliable resources to utilize when dealing with difficult situations, such as the seizure or placement of exotic animals by law enforcement. No one in the state has been a better resource for placing these animals, which require expert care and specialized knowledge. The Wildcat Sanctuary has always been the first place to provide this vital assistance to law enforcement.
The Minnesota Legislature passed a law in 2005 intentionally exempting sanctuaries (such as The Wildcat Sanctuary) in order to benefit the State, protect the public, and provide a secure place for seized and unwanted animals to be housed and cared for.
Meme, the 26-year-old bengal tiger, is one of those animals. She has resided at TWS since June 2001 without incidence. She now has colon and mammary cancer. Moving her out of state would be life threatening.
Based on this, we, the undersigned below, respectfully request that you consider allowing Meme, the tiger to live out her days at The Wildcat Sanctuary. Please do not vote for Meme to be removed or revoke The Wildcat Sanctuarys interim use permit.
Thank you.

- The Wildcat Scanctuary gives Meme a secure, comfortable home in familiar surroundings. It would be wicked to force her to leave

- Meme is an old sick tiger, punishing these beautiful animals for what man has done is wrong!!! We need tougher laws in this state , until there are no wild cats in peoples backyards we need TWS . Plese work with Tammy, we need her and TWS !!!

- Meme has suffered enough in her lifetime. Please allow her to live out what time she has left in a place that she is loved and is comfortable.

- Isn't it strange that the Morrison County commissioners just approved a huge puppy mill (the second puppymill owned by this guy, who has been prostuting dogs for over 25 years) but this poor cat, who is dying and doesn't have long to live, possibly can't stay in the place that she has known for so long and is comfortable in. Something isn't right here. Just let her stay. If you or a loved one were in the final stages of life, I bet you would feel differently. Let's hope you never have to make that decision.

- Here is somthing to consider; If places like the wild cat sanctuary are not permitted to house wild cats, where will those cats that are seized by law enforcement or that are abused and being neglected saftely reside? Without the santcuary so many more cats would be turned loose into the wild from irresponsable owners causing great danger to the public.

- I am a technician at the University of Minnesota and it was such an honor to help Meme. The Wild Cat Sanctuary is a great responsible place who isn't just letting the cats run around crazy. The cats are taken good care of and they are housed safely (in regards to the cats and humans in the community). It would be inhumane to make Meme move. She is old and comfortable. Let her live out her years in peace.
