PETITION TO THE CFTPA

We the undersigned, hereby call on the Canadian Film and Television Production Association (CFTPA) to end its reckless and irresponsible dispute with ACTRA, to settle the issues reasonably, and to focus on the real challenges facing our industry.

The internet issues that the CFTPA is trying to hammer ACTRA over should be referred to a committee, and if necessary to mediation.

The rest of the agreement should be concluded NOW; the industry should get back to work; and producers and all of us in the industry must focus instead on the real key issues: the Canadian Television Fund; the CRTC; the state of the CBC; and the U.S. funded purchase of Alliance Atlantis.

We the performers, technicians and others who work in the industry, call on the CFTPA to begin to act responsibly NOW -- in its negotiations with ACTRA.

    • Met with a producer from England by chance January 22,07 and she has concerns about recommending Canada as a possible shooting location for her projects and the U.S.A. projects she is scouting, due to the strike. Her words were " It has put a black mark on Canadas' film industy and has opened the U.S. A. to offer some tax insentives to pull more films back to the U.S.A."
