We the citizens, sons and daughters of India are deeply saddened and angered at the recent dastardly and cowardly attacks on Mumbai. The 26/11/08 terrorist attack is an act of war against India, and should be our Wake up Call to act firmly against all enemies of India by sending a resolute strong message, especially to our neighbor nations, that such incidents will not be tolerated.

It is time to get out of the divide and rule heritage, time to depoliticize our response to terror and earn back the security and respect of the people of India.

We, the citizens, demand the following from the Prime Minister of India and the Government of India

1. Immediate, timely and adequate monetary compensation to the families of the innocent victims who lost their lives in this terrible terror attacks.
2. A thoughtful, firm, decisive and a rapid response action plan to bring the perpetrators (individuals, organizations and nations) to their knees and thereby justice to the innocent who have suffered quietly through more than one terror attacks in the year 2008 alone and many more since early 1990s.
3. The emerging evidence suggests strong links of the 26/11 terrorist attack to Pakistan and, if the last resort response requires the action of going to war then let there be a firm, overwhelming and decisive action of war to root out the evil of terror attacks once and for all.
4. Not succumb to International pressure in designing and acting on Indias response to stop terror. India must send a strong and clear message and stand up for her own security against all acts of terror. We are paying the price of our past in-actions - this 26/11 attacks would likely have not taken place had we followed through in 2002 and not pulled back after deploying and stationing our entire armed forces of 1.5 million at the border for 3 months.

Last but not the least, we pay our highest tribute to the brave police, fire, military personnel and citizens who lost their lives in order to save others.

We urge the leaders of India to lead by example and follow through with your words and actions to achieve freedom from terror, just as leaders of pre-independent India had shown and demonstrated to be highly effective in achieving Indias independence.

    • We need strong and resolute leadership, to not only evaluate the option of war with neighbor countries (which are undoubtedly supporting these terrorist acts), but also to weed out the traitors within our country and within our government. The problem is that many of our leaders indirectly support these terrorist groups in the name of secularism and human rights. Our government needs to make it very clear that no act of an individual will be tolerated if it goes against our national interests. We need "Modi" like figure to head India during this time. We should have zero tolerance for unpatriotic acts including unpatriotic ideas. It is a better bargain to deal with terrorism, by sacrificing some of the freedom of speech. The more I think about the current handling of these situtations, the more disgust and anguish is felt.

    • India has allowed itself to be a soft target for terrorists. The mediocrity pervades the system of governance that is incapable of tackling terrorism. What is needed is a strong political will to eliminate terrorism from India. When will Indian government wake up to reality of terrorism that has touched all corners of the country?

    • This is a Wake Up call for Bharat. Just think why nothing could be done by terrorists on US soil after 9/11. Whole country has taken a UNITED STAND for security of the country. Hopefully, Indian politicians will rise above petty party politics and vote bank politics and lead the country in direction where citizens of the nation can live without any fear with heads held high. Attempts by politicians to save terrorist responsible for bombing on the Parliament in spite of being ordered to be executed by the Supreme Court only shows to these elements how weak kneed our leadership is and encourages them to strike any part of the country at their will. Enough is Enough. Swami Vivekanand said "Arise and Awake". It is time for ACTION. BHARAT SHOULD DEMAND EXTRADITION OF PEOPLE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS REPREHENSIBLE ACT FOR TRIAL IN BHARAT. If not acceeded, no stones should be left unturned to get them and nip the problem in the bud.

    • Dear Mr. Prime Minister: I would like to make a suggestion to thwart these terrorist attempts in the future. Please pass a measure that anyone who reports suspicious activity related to terrorism is given a reward of 10,000 rupees if an arrest is made based on that information. Please setup terrorist hotlines so that anyone can call anonymously if they have any information. This will ensure that such terrorism acts are thwarted before they can do any harm. Also, please have greater border security so that criminals coming by sea illegally are arrested. Thank you.
