This petition is in direct responce to the growing membership of the facebook group I knew Trolley Ted which now exceeds two thousand members
(http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/group.php?gid=18160623192&ref=ts).
It's purpose? To campaign for a permanent memorial to be placed/erected in the town centre of Burton upon Trent to commemorate the life of Ted Gibson, a popular figure and cherished resident of the town who spent over a decade doing a valuable service in the local community collecting abandoned shopping trolleys and returning them to their rightful owners, preventing potential injury and contributing to a tidier Burton upon Trent.
We hereby urge the East Staffordshire Borough Council to take the relevant steps to ensure that plans for a memorial begin.
Please make sure you include your name. Signatures with no name cannot be counted.
Many thanks.

- i lived for many years in burton and ted was such a nice man friendly and polite i say it would be deeply good willed of burton to actually acknowlede this and to make it show someone did this for free off their own backs and show burton has an understanding of the good things that goes on there rather than the none acknoledgement and advertisement of bad happenings!!

- Many get memorials for less, this man put in a lot of effort and never expected to be rewarded
