Proctor's Theater in Troy, NY is under threat of demolition. New York State, under its Restore New York initiative, can provide the needed funds to stabilize and begin renovation of the 1914 theater and save it from destruction. Stabilization work would provide jobs and employ local artisans, a win-win for everyone. Monies from Restore New York should not be provided to a demolition scheme being proposed by the city of Troy. The money is welcome, but only for the restoration of this historic building.

    • I don't see why you would destroy such a historic landmark when you see the benefits of using such a structure as the centerpiece for revitalization (Schenectady?).

    • I'm from Chicago and am saving the Ramova Theatre. It to is one of the last great places in Bridgeport Cicago Il. I think especially this theatre it should be saved because it would brig buiness, more people, and its a one of a kind theatre just like the Ramova. Once you destroy it its gone forvever! For the hotel I would use the ofiice space for the theatre! Keep the theatre. It should be lost. Like and help us out to Friends of The Ramova! Thanks!

    • Don't tear down this theater. Haven't we learned anything from the mistakes of 1950's urban renewal?

    • I hear they want to keep just the facade, well, the most important part is the theater isn't it?

    • This is a beautiful example of architecture that cannot be destroyed or redeveloped into something else. In Boston where I hail from, we've seen it happen far too often. Save something beautiful.

    • Why tear down such a jewel? Troy needs revitalization, this is something that could help be a key in that.
