Bring back the Death Penalty in Canada in the name of Victoria Stafford

Especially with the brutal murders that have been happening in the last few years, I think it is time we take a very very hard look at bringing back the death penalty here in Canada. The most recent and greatest crime we see, is the kidnapping and murder of a beautiful little girl, an innocent child, this MUST be paid for with their own lives. This is not a case where they should have the opportunity to spend a few years in jail, and hundreds of thousands of society's dollars keeping them there. It is time we come together and condemn these hyenas crimes against our children and families. There are foolproof ways in our modern society of determining whether a person is guilty or not, and DNA evidence is that way. Long gone is the time of false imprisonment and misguided judges and juries. Government needs to follow the demands of the people, MAJORITY RULES that is democracy. With this petition we can show that we are the MAJORITY. For the sake of our children and our society, lets bring this issue back to our parliament and back to the justice system of our country.

    • Life for Life! My Sister Eugena was Murdered in 2007, there MUST BE a deterent to shedding innocent blood. They complain about an over populated jail system, well here is a major solution. Especially if it has been proven by DNA testing that the person was the Murderer, than Yes, they should pay with the Death Penalty, our government is too soft!! Changes Must be made to set a new precident!

    • I was 15 when I became aware of the debate over the death penalty. At that time, if you took a life, you were "hung by the neck until dead". The feeling was at that comfortable, kind time, when the country was financially solvent and people believed that it would be better to let the murderer sit in prision to think for the rest of their life about their crime. The death penalty was SUPPOSED to be relplaced by LIFE IN PRISON! Now terrible crimes are committed and murders get 12 years, out in 7 on probation!! I now feel that there are some people who don't have a consience and will never grow one. I also feel that there are some crimes, like the murder of a child where the criminal should pay with his or her life. This is one of them. Thank you.

    • thjis is rather stupid im sorry. but when we kill people where just as bad as the people were killing. and whos ssaying that were just going to kill murders?? if someone robs a bank will we kill them?? you need to make rules. better punishments. and a more thought out plan.

    • Although I am in favor of the Death penalty, I think it would be best used sparingly. It should only be used in specific cases, where the harm to the convicted individual is outweighed by the benefits to society.

    • I fully agree! God flooded the earth because of all the sin, that was justice. WHY can't these horrible criminals be put to death for there horrendice crime. It is horrible that these people cannot pay for what they have done, but they enjoy the luxuries of jail like a pension, good food etc.. Bring back the death penalty!!!

    • Canada circa 1865 had it right (death for all who committed rape and/or murder!). Right on! I fully endorse and support Capital Punishment -- especially in this day and age when we can prove (via DNA) beyond any reasonable doubt the guilt of criminals. In the name of Victoria Stafford and way too many other innocent victims, bring it on. I also wonder what cost benefit Canadian taxpayers may see from the sentace of death vs. life in prison?

    • the increase in brutal murders and childhood rape justify the return of capital punishment. With the lack of punisment there is a rise in young offenders committing these crimes. Why not, there is little punishment, and why should tax payers pay to keep these criminals behind bars, yet the government closes schools and hospitals are under staffed. What a country we live in!
