Hello from ZodTTD,

What do we want?
We want to see OpenTTD on Apple's App Store. Sign the petition here, and/or send a donation here: http://openttd.chipin.com/openttd-for-ipad-and-iphone

Wasn't OpenTTD already on the App Store?
I, ZodTTD, recently ported OpenTTD 1.0.0 to both the Apple iPhone/iPod Touch and the iPad. Both were submitted to Apple's App Store. Both were pulled from the App Store by Rubidium of the OpenTTD Team.

Why was it pulled?
In short - for no good reason.
OpenTTD is an open source (GPL) application. They filed a complaint to Apple that said I infringed on their rights. How I did so is still somewhat of a mystery.
The OpenTTD team never contacted me before sending the pull notifcation, but I did get in contact with them once Apple alerted me, via IRC (internet relay chat) in their channel the entire time. I was told the OpenTTD Team never ran the build's on the device.
I was already in compliance as I have the license available and displayed in the splash and the entire source code for the project was linked to on the product page in iTunes and available on my public GitHub source repository.

How will signing a petition or a donation help?
Let's show the OpenTTD team it's time to care about supporting the "open" part of OpenTTD and allow for Apple development. No matter how much the donation amount, it shows the OpenTTD team how much you really care to see this get done! Can't donate? Be sure to sign this petition!

What do I get if this changes Rubidium of OpenTTD team's mind?
The development is already done by ZodTTD. With a simple email to Apple, Rubidium can have OpenTTD up on the Apple App Store for the iPhone & iPad within a couple of hours.
A MacOS X version of OpenTTD can easily follow.

We just need the support of the OpenTTD team - Rubidium specifically.

To start things off, I donated $100.

Thanks,
ZodTTD

    • so many harsh restrictions are going to drive YOUR loyal customers to another platform, if not for all these insane restrictions there would not be a reason for jailbreaking which leads to certain individuals participation in piracy "which I in NO way agree with". But at any extent, this is what will inevitably be the decline of your sales and all around attraction to apple products as a whole, "the fall of rome" if you will. as an avid apple supporter, I sincerely hope apple wakes up and starts "THINKING DIFFERENT AGAIN"! thank you

    • Convincing Apple to remove a port of an open-source software whose developer has gone to lengths to ensure said software adheres to GPL, would appear to be antithetical to open-source ideals.
