I, along with many others, believe The Thin Red Line to be a great film, arguably one of the best films of all time. We urge the makers of this film to release the original cut of the film on DVD, the one Malick originally presented to the studios before reediting for a theatrical release. Online sources tell us that the original version was almost 6 hours in length and had entire characters and storylines that were later left on the cutting-room floor.

    • After this whole new trend of releasing "extended", "director's" and "unrated" cuts, this is the one and only movie that really needs such a release. Even though it'd be just a half hour longer version, that'd be great. Just give the director a chance to show his original vision for the film, and it'll be a guaranteed commercial succes!

    • I believe Terrence Malick to be a visionary and i found The Thin Red Line to be a magnificent piece of cinema, an epic journey in fact. I would be exceedingly grateful if 20th Century Fox allowed all us film lovers to see the director's vision in it's complete form. Thank you

    • Apparently there will be a Director's Cut of Malick's 'The New World': why not with 'The Thin Red Line,' already? This cinematic masterpiece deserves a complete presentation true to James Jones' vision, which I believe Malick's original version would be. Another dedicated viewer pleading for the original, full-length version to be made available.
