We, the undersigned, petition the California State Senators to sponsor a bill which would give parents the primary voice in the classroom regarding critical decisions that affect our childrens well-being. Specifically, the decision whether multiples be separated or stay together in the classroom.
A similar bill, known as the Twin Bill, has already been signed into law in Minnesota by Governor Tim Pawlenty. This law gives parents the primary voice in the classroom regarding placement of their multiple children.
As parents, we believe that separating twins and higher order multiples because they are multiples is discriminatory and therefore unacceptable. Multiplicity is a birthright and the decision to separate or keep the children together within the classroom should be determined on a case by case basis, based upon the childrens individual needs, by those who best know the needs of those children.
We believe as parents/guardians of multiples that we best know our childrens individual needs and should have the primary voice in any classroom placement decision made for them.

- All my children are grown, but we are hoping for grandchildren in California. I strongly support the parents rights to a voice in the proper schooling environment for their children.

- i have twins and triplets. my schools have always given our family the choice. it is the fundamental right of the family to have the final say over their children. as stated in the preamble to our state constitution....we do not give up our soveriegn rights to that entity which we have created....

- Parents should have options regarding their mulitple children's classroom placement. Parents know best whether their multiples can be together or separate, and should be allowed the opportunity to facilitate the best options for their children's needs.

- Being a twin myself and having twins, I believe it's important to eventually separate twins into separate classrooms to help them each develop their own individuality. However, the decision about school placement should definately be left up to the parents because not every parent of twins will feel the same way.

- My family is currently facing this issue as my 4.5 yr olds near kindergarten. I do not expect all multiples to be placed together nor be separated. I only want to be given the choice based on my own children's personalities and classroom dynamics.

- Only the parents of twins/multiples really knows wether it is best for their children to be together in a class room or apart. Let them choose.
