Sir, we come to you as very concerned American Citizens.

First of all, we want you to know that we have the greatest respect for you and your insistence on doing the right thing in support of freedom. You have been one to show America that there is still a glimmer of hope for generations to come. With all of your service; serving four and a half years in the United States Air Force, and nearly two decades in elected office as a state representative, commissioner of agriculture, lieutenant governor and now governor - It is our faith in America's future, and the facing of the harsh realities of the past, that brings us to you, Sir.

America wants to see Tyrone Brown set free.

We realize that you have read his story.

Rather than telling us No, we ask that you pray about this situation and ask yourself, what if this was my son? We have all made minor mistakes but do we deserve a life sentence for them? I sure hope not or we better stop building homes and start building more prisons.

The signatures below from this petition, as well as from others that may be drafted among the various parties and organizations, can help provide evidence that we feel strong as a community that Mr. Brown has learned an invaluable lesson and the penalty given by this Judge was harsh and unfair. As the Governor of Texas and (our Governor) we plead that you do the right thing and commute this man's sentence.

We have come together to try to raise money to help Mr. Brown's family and to seek additional services should Mr. Brown be release to offer our support and provide him an opportunity at life. Somthing he should have been given many, many years ago.

We await your affirmative reply, but meanwhile we will be working to show you how serious and passionate we are to help this man. Sixteen years is just too long (just ask his victim).

As we said before... America needs you to do the right thing.

    • Release Mr. Tyrone Brown , please! You can have him home to his family by the holidays. What ever it was that you were trying to prove Governor Perry, you have accomplished it, most definitely. You already have taken 16 years away from a man's life for smoking an herb that grows from the earth that I understand is illegal, but could this really be such a wrong as to have someone locked up like a caged animal? Tyrone Brown did not commit murder, the man that you set free to kill again did ! Yes, he is not a totally innocent man, we all know this, but this man can not go outside to the world for another 63-65 years possibly? 65 years ? If God forbid, he does not die before then. For what? Taking a leaf and rolling it up in a strip of paper, lighting the tip, resting it between his lips and taking a breath. Sounds ludicrous when it is spelled out for you like that, doesn't it? Don't take this horrible evil with you to your deathbed. LET IT GO !

    • I am a criminal defense attorney in Michigan. I have been a prosecutor , as well as a defense attorney during my ten years as a practicing attorney. I have always been outraged by the unfairness in the sentencing of certain individuals relative to others. Something must be done to rectify the extremely cruel and unjust sentence rendered in the case of Tyrone Brown.
