    • Your decision to cut the opening to Stargate is downright horrible. It has truly damaged the whole experience for me.

    • The full opening credits to Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis are a great beggining to the shows and the clips from the show with the amazing scores attract the viewers' attention instantly. Cutting these sequences to 10 seconds is a very idiotic decision. SciFi's viewers don't want to see more stupid commercials for body sprays, they want the classic opening that has been with the show for 8 years and was just starting up with Stargate Atlantis. Cutting the opening credits isn't good for anyone, ecspecially the SciFi channel. Thank you.

    • Stargate is SciFi's best selling show around the world (I'm in the UK). To steal 50secs of the shows to fit in more comercials is just petty and meally mouthed. I hope we have the full intro when it comes to the UK.

    • The opening credits are integral to the overall feel of the show. Don't take that away. It's a disservice to a show that's been very good to the Scifi Channel over the years. You're not making any new friends with this decision.

    • SHAME on you Sci-Fi Channel! You are taking a HUUGGE dump on your fans that have been loyal to this show. Do you know how many fans have been created by the openings themselves?? It's a great attention getter for people who know little about the show!! It says QUALITY! Yes I love LOST but it's opening has always bugged me because it seemed short & cheesy. These are 2 of your flagship shows, why cheapen them with a 10 second opening?

    • Another stupid move by scifi. Just keep chipping away at your shows until there's nothing left. It's getting so I can't enjoy watching anything these days.

    • Sci-Fi Channel: What? We've been nominated for three Emmy's? One of them 'Best Theme' music on one of our highest rated shows? OK, let's cut it back. --- Hello?? Is there any intelligent life at the Sci-Fi Channel???

    • There is no end to the greed and lunacy at the Sci-Fi Channel. They are clearly out of touch with their audience and they obviously don't care. I wrote and asked them in light of all the cast changes this new season, do they really think it WISE to change and cut something that is so beloved by so many people, their fans. They are going to cut themselves right out of existence if they're not careful. Oh, well; they can hawk diet pills 24/7--that's all they care about anyway.

    • I think it's a disgusting, shameful thing that the Sci-Fi channel thinks this is a good idea...or think they need more advertising revenue for that matter!!

    • The show felt like it was missing something. My ears were waiting for something that never came. The opening is part of the show. As an ex-employee of the media world and Knowing that SG1 and Atlantis are highlyy watched shows then commercials would pay more to get that airtime and that should handle the overhead and counteract the cost cuts.

    • That horrendous new opening is barely a blip on the screen -- completely pointless! It's a slap in the face to the actors (who now get a little flash of their names that's over almost before you realize the show is on), the fans (whose viewership you need if you expect to make money off those precious commercials -- especially those of us in the coveted 18-34 age bracket), and Joel Goldsmith, whose stirring adaptation of the movie soundtrack theme is as integral to the show as the voiceover that begins each episode of Star Trek. I've been dreading this butchery ever since I first read the news on a fan site a few weeks ago. I was upset then, but am absolutely furious now that I've seen just how bad it really was. You want to cut costs? Get rid of those awful original movies of yours. The commercials alone look so stupid that I refuse to watch such drivel for fear that I'd lose brain cells just by tuning in. You think the outcry over Michael Shanks' S5 departure was bad -- you ain't seen nothin' yet!

    • You're cutting the EMMY NOMINATED themes? Talk about shooting yourself in the foot. Don't sell out, SCI FI, restore the themes and ditch the measly extra advertising.

    • The opening is as much about the show as the show itself. They set the tone and build anticipation for the next 50 someodd minutes to come. If the Stargate franchise were something new, the 10 seconds might be fine, but I would like to point out that its been here for 8 years, now 9 (making tieing it for the 2nd longest running Sci-Fi series next to X-Files).

    • A hint as to the value of the opening credits comes from the fact that the music score was nominated for an Emmy! You know Stargate carries the SciFi channel. You are shooting yourselves in the foot by cutting an audience-drawing technique just to get one or two more commercials in. Music is a very powerful memory-jogger. All other shows on T.V. have full beginning credits. If you want to make more money, try another tack, like offering clip downloads for a small price.

    • They seem trivial, but the opening credits play a big role in getting me excited for the shows right from the start. The bland new openings really do detract a bit from the shows themselves, not to mention they're a great injustice to Goldsmith, whose theme songs for the Stargate shows are phenomenal.
