Urge Bug Selig to allow Youth Baseball Leagues to use the MLB team names and logos

As a coach for my son's youth baseball team, I was shocked to hear that Major League Baseball (MLB) charges big licensing fees to youth baseball leagues if they use MLB team names or logos on their kids jerseys. Obviously, these are non-profit, volunteer organizations, so how does the MLB expect these leagues to pay huge licensing fees -- it is a complete abomination!

The MLB should be ashamed for not providing our youth with same opportunity we had as kids imaging we were playing for the "big league" teams in our very own jerseys of the same name. I think this does irrevocable damage to the sport if this continues and is a short-sighted decision in favor of making a buck now, instead of promoting the sport to the next generation of baseball players.

If you feel as disappointed as I do, please sign this petition to urge Bud Selig to reverse this misguided licensing decision and start investing in our youth today!

- This may cause little leagues to search for alternative team names and uniforms and in turn could hurt the league. It is ludacris to charge these kids and their parents who volunteer their time so that their children can participate in team sports.

- It seems to me that what is supposed to be "America's Favorite Past Time" is no longer that, it has become a money hungry mongrul! It is bad enough the fans but especially the kids suffer not only from the MLB players using drugs and lying about it but now MLB is taking part of the fun out of playing -- the kids look forward to having the name of the team on the jersey! MLB and Selig should be completely ashamed!

- I cannot believe MLB would even ask the youth baseball organizations of this Country to pay for the use of the logos when the players of MLB are making astronomical amounts of money to play a game. I for one will not ever attend another baseball game if you consider leaving this ridiculous rule in place.

- Money or Proud to have the kids wear their favorite MLB team name? Of course Money is ALL THE PRO SPORTS CARE ABOUT!!. That it so wrong in so many ways for our kids. Now the PROS should just be allow all the steriods the players want to use, Because the message you send is that MONEY only matters and the Spirit of the GAME is Gone in our Youths Eyes. The losers in all of this is just the KIDS and their FUTURE MIND SETwill be only about the MONEY that this DRIVES into our KIDS! SHOW ME THE MONEY KIDS!!!!!!!

- This is so important to kids they collect baseball cards, go to games,(both cost money by the way ) and look so forward to wearing the" big league" jersey it seems greedy and cruel to deny children who LIVE baseball such joy because you(MLB) needs more money. Very Sad!!!
