Dear Square Enix,

We, the undersigned and the huge fans of Square Enix video games, would like to see an official American (and European) release of Seiken Densetsu 3.

Video game emulation in this day and age is well recognized. It is safe to argue that Squaresoft's Seiken Densetsu 3 game, for SNES, is the most emulated and well known unreleased game among video gamers. The game was one of the first to be fan-translated, because of such high demand among English-speakers to play this game. With the size of SNES game files small, and the fact that these games were already released in America, games such as Final Fantasy IV, VI and Chrono Trogger have sold well in their re-releases for the PlayStation, even in America, well enough to earn Greatest Hits status even. Even with the factors such as the game being old, and emulation being easy, etc gamers would eagerly buy this game the minute it was released officially in America.

Since the Seiken Densetsu series is handled by developer Brownie Brown, which was acquired by Nintendo, we understand that a PSone port like Final Fantasy Anthology would not be possible. But even if a PSone port were possible, we believe it would be more appropiate to release the game for Nintendo's Gameboy Advance, or even the upcoming Nintendo DS. We are well aware that in Japan, Square Enix has been polling Japanese gamers as to which games they would like to see ported to the Nintendo DS. We whole-heartedly support Seiken Densetsu 3 to come to the Nintendo DS, or at least the Gameboy Advance.

If the original NES Legend of Zelda re-release for Gameboy Advance could sell so well, we believe Seiken Densetsu 3 would not only please fans, but make Square Enix a lot of money. Everyone wins.

The Fans of Mana were not amused with the release of Secret of Evermore instead of Seiken Densetsu 3 (to be released as Secret of Mana 2). Rumor has it that Seiken Densetsu 3 was indeed already English translated in full, but scrapped at the last minute in favor of Secret of Evermore. We are still waiting for the real sequel to Secret of Mana to be released in America.

We are aware that the naming scheme of the Seiken Densetsu series, in America and Europe, is structured as [Something] of Mana. Secret of Mana, Sword of Mana, Legend of Mana, etc. We are aware that Seiken Densetsu 1 was named Final Fantasy Adventure in America for sales purposes, but we prefer the [Something] of Mana name scheme. An appropiate name could be something like "Knights of Mana" or "Heroes of Mana" since the game emphasizes six unique warriors, who could all be main characters, with different paths through the game.

Please, Square Enix (and Nintendo, we know you control the GBA release in the end), release Seiken Densetsu 3 for the English speaking markets. Like mentioned before, the fans will be please, and both Square Enix andNintendo will make money. The game was already written, scripts are even already written, it just needs to be ported. Development costs would therefor be inexpensive, especially compared to whatever Square Enix and Nintendo paid to get Sword of Mana released. Everybody wins, every way you look at it. Thank you.

P.S. We would also like a Gameboy Advance (or DS) port of Secret of Mana, if that could be arranged as well.

    • I've owned and played the old Super Famicom cartridge for years. I'd love to see the game finally get an actual English release, rather than just fan-translated ROMs.

    • It is telling that the SD3 FAQs and message board have been constantly in the top 10 most viewed for at least three years solid in the SNES section of GameFAQs, almost all of whose users are from the United States of America, even though the game was never released there.

    • Not releasing this game is plain stupid. You've re-released all the already released classics, why not an unreleased game? Legend of mana was horrible, here is a chance to salvage your reputation and dig yourself out of bankruptcy.

    • Every single European who owns a Snes owns SK2. It is THE most popular Snes game in Europe. The port of SK3 is LONG overdue. In truth, the fact that it has not yet been released is an abberation.
