In view of the fact, that staging Le Tour de l'Ile de Montreal, cost Island of Montreal taxpayers, $602,000 in 2008, we the undersigned residents of the Island of Montreal, feel that in order to justify the major expense and inconvenience caused by the event, that all 45,000 participants of Velo QC events should be invited to raise $$$ for Montreal's two children's hospitals.

- What a twisted, selfish, ignorant and totally self-serving group of people, these cyclists who think they can come into our neighborhoods and hold us hostage for a day because, why? They own the roads? Some omnipotent being has given them the right to do whatever the hell they feel like doing, for the simple sake of pleasure? At least if charity was involved, there might be some logical rationale for this ridiculous annual pursuit. But the way it is now, both organizers and participants can choke themselves on their chains, as far as I am concerned.

- I think you should see this event as a joyful event. It doesn't have to have a reason to enjoy it. With your point of view. We should also start to use the Jazz Festival to raise money to feed homeless. Can't you just enjoy the event and get over it?

- Dear Daffy, The participants of events like this, throughout the world are invited to raise funds for charity, but not in QC which happens to be the worst place for charitable giving/volunteerism in Canada and the USA. I have nothing against the event. I simply wish to enhance it and make it more paletable to society. Sorry if you are too "daffy" to appreciate that! :o)
