Wacken organisers,









We, the true metal faithful and loyal supporters of Wacken Open Air, are simply appauled at the addition of metalcore bands to this years bill. The addition of Avenged Sevenfold is simply the straw that broke the camel's back.









It appears that Wacken is going the way of the commercial rock festival and booking trendy non-metal bands instead of relevant bands that the majority of Wacken festival folk have paid their hard earned dollars to see (bands like Overkill, Hammerfall, Amon Amarth, Vader, Slayer, Megadeth etc).









Please do not let Wacken disintegrate into a commercial festival, akin to the likes of Download Festival which consequently sees many English metalheads take the trip to Germany's north to see a TRUE METAL festival.









Wacken, long praised as the world's number one TRUE METAL festival, a mecca for heavy metal fans, is simply losing that tag and WE, the fans of true metal ask that you, the organisers, refrain from adding further metal-core bands and add some TRUE METAL bands. We don't need to tell you what constitutes a true metal band.









PS. Cancelling bands like Job For a Cowboy and Avenged Sevenfold wouldn't hurt!

    • YES, please do not destroy the image of Wacken you have worked so hard to develop over the last 19 years. Stick to booking real and true Metal acts for the metalheads who have made the fest what it is today. From Canada I have attended every year since 2003 myself. There are enough other festivals for metal-core and nu-metal bands to play. Keep Wacken pure!! P.S. I agree, to see a band like Anthem, Loudness, or Sex Machine Guns would be amaizing.

    • Being from Canada we have enough shows with metalcore stuff in it that I don't bother with, I would like to keep it to travelling overseas to see something magical with REAL Metal. The past 2 years of Wacken and especially this year I was turned away from a good majority of the band list, please bring back what Wacken is known for!

    • Wacken's 2007 line up was great... this year it isn't. Jfac, Hatebreed, Avenged Sevenfold and Killswitch Engage do not belong in this type of festival. We need to see the Likes of Vader, Wintersun, Tankard, Sabbat etc. Those are just a few of the Bands that could be put on this year's Lineup.

    • I have attended Wacken each year since 2004. This line up has got to be the worst I've seen. Like My bro says, Much More Metal Acts (Bands such as Sadus, Infernal War, I (abbath doom occulta's band) and Immortal) Should be on this years line up, instead of some of the bands we have this year. Wacken throughout its 19 years of life has definatly been one of the greatest metal festivals on earth. Don't let poor band choice ruin that, please, for the fans.
