I believe it would be important to promote, on a global level, the recognition of Bologna's Porticoes as World Patrimony of Humanity.

The Porticoes are a distinguishing feature of Bologna and its outlying areas: from the historic center to the Monte della Guardia, up to the historic centers of the cities in the province - they are all an integral part if Bologna itself.

Bologna has to publish a census of the existing porticoes and promote their documentation in order to manage funds to guarantee a weekly cleaning of the pavement for all porticoes, even outside the center.

The porticoes are a unique example of private structures intended for public use: while respecting private property - with relative duties and recognitions - we need to fill a gap, which up to now has not acknowledged the elevated social value of the porticoes or guaranteed their cleanliness.
At the present time, the malodorous pools of germs and toxic gas have led to a chain of events: the closing down of business, the fragmentation of building property the porticoes belong to, the uncivil behavior of the users, the air pollution due to vehicle traffic, temperature control systems (heating and cooling), and smoke, in addition to the dirtiness of columns, capitals, statues, and walls.
It's necessary that UNESCO accept the fact that Bologna's Porticoes are a Patrimony of Humanity
