On March 25, 2009 Wil Wheaton was named as the Secretary of Geek Affairs by Paul and Storm (see http://www.paulandstorm.com/archives/geek-madness-congratulations-mr-secretary/). Wheaton was reportedly chosen over other such high-raking geeks as Stephen Hawking and Steve Wozniak.

While we do not deny that Mr. Wheaton is indeed a geek-for-all-geeks, unfortunately the selection committee did not consider probably the greatest geek of all: "Weird" Al Yankovic.

Mr. Yankovic has been a geek rights activist for years and has repeatedly been the public face for geeks everywhere. His hits "It's All About the Pentiums" and "White & Nerdy" have rung out from dark game rooms everywhere to pronounce to the world that geeks are here and Mr. Yankovic is with them.

We hereby request that Paul and Storm hold a new election for the Secretary of Geek Affairs that includes Mr. Yankovic as a candidate. Not to discount Mr. Wheaton, but Mr. Yankovic deserves consideration as well, otherwise this whole process is a sham!

The following is a short exchange between the two men on Twitter:

@wilw: "Somehow, we broke through the spacetime continuum, and are in a universe where I'm the secretary of geek affairs. COOL! http://is.gd/p7iX"
@alyankovic: "@wilw It was my life-long dream to be Secretary of Geek Affairs, but I bear no grudges - wear that crown proudly, sir."

Both tweets can be referenced here:

Again, we request a new election so that geeks may have their proper say!
