International Womens Day is an official holiday in China, Armenia, Russia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Macedonia, Moldova, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.

It is about time that the rest of the world took note of women's contribution to society, economy and family. While a public holiday won't end all the wrongs against women, it will definitely help to focus attention on nearly 50 percent of the world's people.
