As you are aware Ireland is hosting a round of the World Rally
Championship in November this year and Irish motorsport fans, old and
new, are taking an increasing interest in the 2007 WRC championship.
Those fans that do not have access to satalite broadcasting are relying
on RTE broadcasting reports of each round, for which we are most
grateful. Unfortunately these reports are aired 3 days after the
conclusion of the event and at an extremely un-socialable hour very
early on Wednesday morning. As you can imagine 3 days is a lifetime in
the world we live in now and any degree of excitement tends to pass.
Is it possible that the programme could be broadcast at a more amenable
time on Sunday evening? We appreciate that RTE viewers have many varied
interests but in the year of Rally Ireland we feel that some
consideration should be given to the interests of motorsport fans.

- I think there is plenty of slots for RTE to fit the programmes in at an earlier time. RTE have excellent coverage of other sports, it would be brilliant to see some effort to show the rallys at a reasonable time. Rally fans pay their tv licence too!!!

- Whats the point in paying for whats probably an expensive show, when your target audience is tucked up in bed. Its not college students trying to wittle away the wee hours, its rallying fans of which there's plenty in this country!!!!!!

- For Ireland to secure a round of the WRC is a massive achievment.. With world t.v audiences increasing for the fifth consecutive year to a massive 800 million viewers it is a disgrace that this highly popular sport is not getting the live coverage it deserves. There was no shortage of coverage of the Ryder cup last year. Even though the WRC will bring an estimated 48 million euro to our economy the national TV station couldn't be bothered to provide live bulletins. This is the first year in quite a while that RTE have been given updates on our tarmac championship which is the envy of every other Championship World wide. Someone in the higher authorities of RTE needs to rethink this decision.

- We managed to tar half of Wicklow for a portion of the Tour De France and yet we cannot make the most of one of the largest sporting events that our country has ever hosted live by broadcasting at a reasonable hour. British television stations manage to show live coverage of many of the WRC events I appreciate that this is probably asking too much of RTE but sureley the footage can be edited quicker and shown during a prime time slot. We managed it for thr Ryder cup and the WRC Ireland is beinging 60 million euro to the country

- With the upcoming WRC round in Ireland that will mean just as much to the people of the Northwest as the Ryder Cup meant to East it is only right that RTE should display the WRC at a social time.

- considering all the coverage rightly given to the ryder cup, it is a shame that another world class event isn't given an equal amount of coverage, Rallying fans all over the country are being literally left in the dark. it is further proof of RTE serving the rich, eletist few while ignoring the common fan. The ryder cup cost colossal money to stage and the entry fees to view the event live was bordering on the extortinate, The round of the world rallying champonship will be for the most part be free to view for spectators and will cost colossal amount of money to stage but still will manage to bring in approx 50 million to the north west area. think about it a major tool to promote ireland is in danger of being missed, due to the fact that it is not as highly rated by the golf playing exec's up in the media organisations as a whole , not just RTE, aside from the specialist magazines how many column inches are devoted to irish rallying ?
