The conflict in the Holy Land has raged for too long, resulting in the tragic deaths of too many innocent men, women, and children. Peace has been shown the back door, and justice has been swept under the rug. Instead of solutions and a brighter future, the discussion has centered around bitter accusations regarding the dark past. Let us build today the path to peace and progress.
In a spirit of a pluralistic brotherhood and sisterhood that transcends borders and divisions, we are Jews, Muslims and Christians and all faith groups, Arabs and Israelis and all ethnicities, Westerners and Easterners, rich and poor, from North America to East Asia to West Africa to the Caribbean to Europe to the Subcontinent and everything in between.
Whether left-wing or right-wing, religious or secular, today we affirm the following:
I. Both the Palestinian and Israeli people are entitled to live in security, free from fear of attack or deprivation.
II. There can be no solution without a just resolution of the continued disposession of the Palestinians.
III. Violence will bring neither an end to injustice nor will it build a path to peace.
IV. Jews, Muslims, and Christians all deserve to coexist as equals within the Holy Land, and in a spirit of tolerance.
V. A democratic ethic should be engendered, whether or not results are favorable to all interested parties.
Principles and beliefs are but a guide for action. It is up to everyone to call on those in power and with influence to try their utmost to implement a just peace as follows:
1. Cessation of the use of violence and incitement by all sides.
2. Mutual recognition by Palestinians and Israelis of the 1967 borders.
3. Mutually agreed compensation, redress and return where possible for refugees.
4. Equitable sharing of Jerusalem as a capital for both peoples.
5. Creation of a peaceful Palestinian state that is viable and contiguous.
We call on all people to support this initiative.

- Enough! Does blaming Hamas make the Israelis who agree to this war sleep better at night? The images of killed and maimed children, families wipped out, haunt my nights. Israel always denies everything, and claims the right to do ANYTHING to defend itself. The very fact that Israel is a "jewish" state counters the claims that it is democratic; having a couple of arab israelis in the knesset DOES not make it democratic. Israel must lift the blockades, bring down the wall of shame, let people move freely, stop surrounding Palestinian cities! BRING PEACE to this beautiful land.Thank you to the brave Israeli activists who are trying to work for peace; I know you are viewd as traitors by your own, but we need your help to get peace.
