Since 2002, many people have greatly enjoyed Xbox LIVE. It was the first truly viable on-line gaming infrastructure for any console, and at that time it was worth the yearly fee. In the years since, you have released the Xbox 360, and Xbox LIVE has grown and evolved in many amazing ways on this platform. You have given us more sophisticated tools for us to use which made the experience even better. You have granted free entry/use to most areas/features of Xbox LIVE via the Silver account, and maintained the fee as the Xbox LIVE Gold subscription, along with giving your customers a greater variety of payment and subscription options.
We, The Undersigned, believe that now is the time to abolish the fee to play Xbox 360 on-line altogether. After all, the original Xbox had no real console competition for on-line gameplay. This is no longer the case. Other consoles have now more-or-less approximated most of the facets of Xbox LIVE, and they offer on-line gameplay for free. We believe that the fee to play on-line can no longer be justified in light of other platforms offering comparable services for no fee at all. The Xbox LIVE Gold subscription now seems thoroughly obsolete, and even unfair to your customers.
Xbox LIVE now generates large revenue streams via the various areas of the Xbox LIVE Marketplace. The fact that you continue to cling to a completely out-dated on-line gameplay fee in spite of all this seems extremely unreasonable to us. We want to play our Xbox 360s on-line, but the fee to do so is increasingly becoming something of a slap in the face for your customers, especially when their friends and relatives are getting entirely comparable services and experiences for free on other platforms.
It is our hope that you will abolish this fee altogether, so that Xbox 360-owners can enjoy on-line gameplay without being penalised for choosing your platform. If you continue to charge for on-line gameplay, we may have to reconsider our choice in video game console.
