Yahoo!'s Accessibility Improvement

Hello Yahoo! management team,

As a blind user, who accesses the internet via screen reading programs, I found it difficult to create my Yahoo! account, and ended up asking a sighted person for help, simply because there is no real support against that security image that the individuals who would like an e-mail have to go through. The page says that, if you are visually impaired, you have to leave a phone number, and be contacted. But my petition is that this system changes, and an audio file representing the characters on the image be placed along with the image itself, giving more accessibility for everyone!

    • I am not blind, but I am signing this on the blind behalf. Chris Heilmann talks and writes a LOT about usability and accesibility, for WHAT?, Yahoo is not accesible for the blind??? Come on guys... you are good, just DO IT!!!

    • We the blind want and need the same privledges and accessability on the web as a person with sight, No we demande it, we are tired of being left behind in the stoneages or even being looked over like a peace of trash on the side of the road. It is time for all bissnesses weather on the web or not to catch-up with the twenty-first century, so get off your collective butts and get with it.

    • When signing up for an account, one has to write in the captcha, that is difficult. Using the audio is also difficult because if you can't hear all the numbers well, it is as bad as writing the captcha as you see it.

    • Thanks! I couldn't get through to yahoo myself, glad to see the petition. They don't even have a clue about the kind of descrimination their whole network poses to us blind people otherwise I'd think they'd care to change it.

    • Requesting that Capshas be typed in the edit boxes on the Yahoo Website, is discriminatory toward those of us who are blind or vision impaired. Yahoo never returns calls to those of us needing assistance!

    • I would very much like to see this problem taken care of. But when it' is taken care of. Pleas don't have the sound file garbled. That really doesn't do any good. And it makes it harder for us to hear what's being said. We would like to access your web site. But as long as this is still in place. That closes the door to us.
