I have started this petition to raise awareness of what I consider in my opinion to be blatant false advertising, and to point the finger at AT&T for having the worst cell phone service in the country. I propose gathering enough signatures to file a class action lawsuit against AT&T and possible other cell phone service providers.
There is currently an AT&T television commercial with basketball players tossing a cell phone around and they narrator clearly say NO RAOMING CHARGES as an inducement for you to go and get AT&Ts new Mlife service. No Roaming is not the case when you get this service. They will tell you later that if your cell phone should have to use a competing cell phone companys antenna, then you are charged for that as roaming. You will never know if you phone is doing this until you open your bill.
I think advertisements such as this one are false and do so intentionally to try and win your business.
AT&T has done very little with their billions of dollars that they make in the cell phone arena and are dinosaurs when it comes to technology. There are very high taxes charged to everyone that has a cell phone and those taxes need some explanation as the money does not seem to be going towards advancing the technology so that cities as large as Los Angeles, can get cell service without drop-outs or no reception at all.
On average a person can only stay on a cell call for three minutes in Los Angeles on AT&T service before being dropped.
No other industry charges for such poor service. You would not pay your landline phone bill if your service were as bad as your cell phone service is.
The monthly charges need to be more in proportion to the service that they provide and the taxes that we pay need to be explained as to what they are going towards.

- Please see the following petition against Scientology. They have hijacked Canada and are holding millions of Canadians hostage. Their internet service providers such as Erthlink, AIBN and Cogeco and are preventing their own customers from accessing Internet and receiving and sending email. They limit Internet access to only certain sites in public libraries, schools etc. They control all communication and delete voice mail and email. Their doctors are vampires in white coats who put anyone who opposes them into their wards and turn them into zombies or worse. See the following link: They are preventing input into this site: http://www.petitiononline.com/cofs1/petition.html

- AT&T blatantly lied to us, teling us there would be no roaming charges, and then denied it when we complained about our bill. We offered to compromise, but they won't budge an inch.

- While I dislike further gov't intervention (as is evident by the ineffectiveness of their intervention into Cable television costs), I think the only way to crack down on issues such as this is to have Congress involved.

- I WAS LIED TO. TOLD THAT I HAD FREE ROAMING IN ALL THE WESTERN STATES WEST OF COLORADO. I WENT TO CALIFORNIA AND CAME BACK WITH $200 IN ROAMING CHARGES. I CALLED THE COMPANY AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. IT IS MY RESPONISIBILITY TO FIND A MAP THAT SHOWS MY COVERAGE. WHEN I MADE CALLS IN CA THEY DID NOT SAY ROAM ON THE PHONE EITHER. I HAVE NEVER DEALT WITH A COMPANY SO UNETHICAL IN MY ENTIRE LIFE.

- I tried to cancel my contract, which required a fee of $175.00. To keep my service through the end of the contract was $175.00. They get you either way. Not to mention their services are twice as expensive as any place else. They lied to me about what services I was receiving and then changed my minutes. I thought I was getting 600 daytime minutes, but found out I was only getting 200 and being charged premium fees for the extra time.

- no service, no pay, no liability to customer or obligation for services rendered of said contract.
- Suggestions
- if service is not delivered, you should not have to pay and you should have the right to cancel at any time without any recourse by the cell phone provider.

- AT&T flat out told me prior to 2 recent trips to NY that I would not incur roaming charges. This was of course false as I discovered when I received a whopping $300+ bill. When I called customer service they were only willing to credit half of the charges stating that I should be aware I am in a roaming area....how does one know this when the phone does not state roaming? They gave me no answer. Plus the fact that the GSM service is so poor in this area that I can hardly use my phone.
- Suggestions
- Be honest about roaming costs and PLEASE provide better coverage....you're not the only player in the game AT&T.

- I was an att customer for three years. Att dropped my cell service when they would not work with me on my bill. Then they are trying to charge me for getting no service at all. I've called them many times to arrange a payment plan and they refused evry time.

- AT&T has prevented me from using the cell phone I bought and paid for outside of their plan because the cell phone has their logo on it. I paid for the motorola phone not and AT&T manufactured phone. I was told I could use the phone with any service provider. AT&T prevented me from doing so because they refused to give me the unlock code to operate my phone. AT&T phone service is the worst.
- Suggestions
- Make AT&T give me the unlock code so I can use my phone as I see fit. Not as they see fit.
