All hardware manufactures should publish product's specification, so open-source developers may write drivers for free software OSes such as GNU/Linux.

    • I'm not going to buy hardware that is unsupported on open source platforms. Usupported also means that there is only closed-source driver available, like it is the case for Nvidia.

    • Unix is already losing ground to Linux. M$ will follow, especially since they want to lead users to believe that 4 or 5 freezups/crashes a day is normal.

    • As a systems engineer responsible for all hardware purchases at a financial institution which has converted completely to GNU/Linux, no open source drivers for a particular piece of hardware means that hardware is not considered for any purchases. It is in our interests to have as many hardware vendors providing driver sources or programming specs to volunteers as possible, as that increases our choices, and it is in your own to provide such, so that your product may be considered for purchase.
