Freedom of Speech for Persian GLBT Webloggers |
To: Persianblog.com AdministrationIn last week of October 2004, Persianblog.com, the greatest Persian weblog service provider disabled accounts of almost all of Persian GLBT weblogs. This is the second incident of mass closing of GLBT weblogs, after the first round in April 2003. Their excuse is violation of terms of service by writers of these weblogs. The only section of the terms of service that is applicable to these weblogs is first section which force users of Persianblog.com to consider all moral and legal restrictions in their writings. Almost all of deleted weblogs contain neihter any kind of pornographic image or text nor any kind of material that can be assumed immoral. Furthermore in Persianblog.com's terms of service it is declared that in case of violation of terms of service, Persianblog.com administration will notify the owner and if and only if the violation continues, the account will be disabled. In this case, all weblogs are closed without any previous notice. So the undersigned request that Persianblog.com's administration reconsiders its policy in case of GLBT weblogs.
Sincerely,
