Tell Amazon to keep its Post-Order Price Guarantee!

Dear Amazon,

The people who are signing this petition respectfully request that Amazon bring back its Post-Order Price Guarantee (POPG). Under POPG, we could get a rebate of the difference between a lower Amazon price on any item purchased within 30 days of the purchase.

More than any actual rebates (which were minimal), users like me enjoyed the peace of mind that came with knowing they could buy today and get the lowest Amazon price, especially in this economy where my dollar doesn't go as far as it used to.

Amazon has e-mailed people who have recently collected rebates and informed them that any items ordered after September 1 will no longer be eligible for POPG. The POPG policy is no longer displayed at the Amazon site. It appears that Amazon has revoked POPG.

We think you should bring POPG back. The benefits to Amazon are substantial. First, Amazon benefits from the loyalty from the peace of mind POPG generates. Second, Amazon benefits from people like me who are much more likely to buy with you and POPG, rather than waiting and worrying about the price going down.

Getting rid of POPG may backfire. Many Amazon shoppers will delay their purchases. Others will buy elsewhere. Some have threatened to return items and pay the restocking fee, causing Amazon more inventory headaches.

Barnes & Noble, Tiger Direct, Best Buy, The Apple Store, and dozens of other online and offline retailers have POPG-type policies in place. I would prefer to shop with Amazon, but I'm always looking for the best combination of both price and customer service.

We strongly suggest you reconsider the revocation of POPG.
