This petition is presented on behalf of the citizens of the tri-cities communities of Fremont, Newark and Union City and visitors of Coyote Hills Regional Park, who oppose the Patterson Ranch development. We respectfully request that the Fremont City Council reject this proposed project.

Our objection is based on:

1) Fremont Unified School District has expressed major concerns about overcrowded neighborhood schools and objected to this development. The developer does not pay for the full cost of a new elementary school. Our school district would need to pay at least $11 million toward new construction without state matching funds, and it is in a severe budget crisis itself.

2) Fremont already has financial challenges meeting its obligations in critical service areas such as crime prevention and public safety. It is not in the best interest of Fremont to add another large housing development of 878 homes that Fremont could not properly support.

3) This development is expected to generate over 4 million car trips annually. Fremont does not need more traffic.

4) Coyote Hills Regional Park, a natural treasure, would be significantly and negatively impacted. It is our responsibility to protect our environment for future generations. Our City, our schools and our children do not need this development.
