Sony Playstation 2 Free Repairs

This petition is for free replacements/repairs of the Sony Playstation 2 Console, because of faulty products they sell. Back a while ago, a lot of users from a certain message board starting getting errors with their Sony Playstation 2. After research it concluded to be what's commonly called DRE or Disc Read Error. It is a problem with the laser reading CD-ROMs, which makes them not work, and it's often leaves people VERY frustrated. Keep in mind, this is not a isolated incident, as it happens very frequently with PS2 owners.

You would figure that emailing Sony about a problem with their product would clear the matter, and maybe get them to fix it since it is their fault? No. They recoginize the problem, and send an e-mail about using the auto-diagnosis feature, which does nothing. Sony continues to charge their faithfull customers up to $175 for shipping and repairs, only to some customers. Whenever people act unsetteling to Sony, or mention the BBB (Better Business Bureau) they instantly change their mind and waive the fee.

Some people found a way to fix this, which is to void the warranty and open the casing of the PS2 and adjust the laser voltage. This is something a lot of us wouldn't want to go through.

Sony is aware of this problem, and continues to charge incredible amounts of money to fix this. So this petition is for Sony to step up and claim responceability, and waive all fees that they try to impose, and to get this problem solved.

I will keep this up untill Sony implements these changes. They made a faulty product, and are charging half the retail cost to fix it. No.
