We the students of Penn State feel that the construction of a rock climbing wall would be a beneficial asset to the students of the Pennsylvania State University. At this point in time, we believe that the Biomechanics Lab on campus should be converted into an indoor rock climbing wall. We support this cause for the following reasons:
.) The closest rock climbing wall accessible to Penn State students is at a YMCA facility not accessible by all Penn State Students. As a result, the Pennsylvania State University will no longer have to rent the rock climbing walls of other facilities in order to offer rock climbing classes. As a result of this, the university will not only be eliminating an expense, but also generating a source of revenue as well.
.) This rock climbing facility will be able to address the current demand for recreational space at the Pennsylvania State University.
.) The possibility to add additional courses offered by the Kinesiology Department.
.) Students would have the opportunity to receive certifications in Belay Climbing and Lead Climbing.
.) The space which is only being utilized by approximately five faculty members will now be able to be utilized by the university population.
.) Student organizations would be able to offer team building exercises within the rock climbing center.
.) The Pennsylvania State University will have the ability to add additional on campus jobs for students.
