We petition the Piscataway Public Library Board of Trustees and the Piscataway Public Library Director to continue current funding levels to the Johanna W. Westergard library, allowing the library to remain open.

Closing the Westergard library would mean loss of easy library access for patrons in the New Market and Arbor areas. Local teens and children will no longer have access to programs the Westergard library offers. Fewer computers and free Internet access will limit local job searchers in their efforts to find employment, obtain training, and in building resumes and cover letters.

Local groups and programs would be forced to find other meeting rooms and would compete for limited space at the Kennedy Library in Piscataway.

There is no doubt that it would also affect Piscataway's ranking as one of Money Magazine's "Best Places to Live."

We urge you to preserve the high standing of Piscataway township by supporting the maintenance of the Johanna W. Westergard Library.
