Support of ASUC Twinning Bill Calling for Sister University Status with Gaza Universities

To:  ASUC Senate

We, the undersigned students of UC Berkeley, call upon the members of the ASUC Senate to vote in favor of the Twinning Bill calling for Sister University Status with Gaza Universities, namely Al-Aqsa University, Al-Azhar University, and the Islamic University of Gaza.

In accordance with the missions of the UC Berkeley community to promote unrestricted intellectual and humanitarian pursuits of University of California students and to foster cross-cultural understanding and exchange of knowledge in attempt to further the search for wisdom, we support the twinning of UC Berkeley with the severely disadvantaged universities of Gaza under the consistent negative interference by the Israeli Government. We support the creation of student and faculty exchange programs, the sharing of knowledge through sponsoring access to limited resources such as online academic journals, and donating vital supplies necessary for regular functioning of these universities
