Extending the motorcycle CBT to save lives. |
To: The Driving Standards AgencyWe, The undersigned, respectfully demand that the CBT (Compulsory Basic Training) course that is offered here, in the UK, needs to be extended to several days and become more all-encompassing.
We understand that, as it is stated within the name, this is a basic training course, i.e. it is designed to ensure that the rider is given the start to learn how to ride safely on public roads, and as such is not designed to give the rider any extended experience on the road prior to being allowed to ride individually.
We believe that the easiest way to combat this lack of experience would be to provide on-road training with the help of an instructor over the course of several days, in all possible riding conditions available.
We are thankful that the CBT scheme exists, but at present believe that where this much training is offered, more can be done to protect our less experienced riders.Sincerely,
