Ask Rick Astley To Write A Protest Song For Anonymous |
To: Rick AstleyNutshelled blunt message in one sentence; rhetoric shall follow.
I am writing this petition to invite Rick Astley to write a protest song for Anonymous, against Scientology.
We, the thronging masses of internet users worldwide, have been using the song, "Never Gonna Give You Up," as a misdirecting prank for several years now. We laugh with you, Rick, not at you. It's been twenty years, we can look back and admit that seen through the viewpoint of today's teenagers, the song really is kind of silly. And yet, it's got a catchy hook, a bouncy optimistic drive, the sort of "I will not stop singing until you love me back again" sincerity that made it a hit in the first place.
Through the MOST EXCELLENT journalism of the Los Angeles Times, we have the knowledge now that Rick Astley actually approves of our appropriation of his song for our tomfoolery and marching.

We, Anonymous, are rising against the cult of Scientology due to its tactics and actions as an organization, rather than the beliefs of the individual entry-level members. It has wedged apart families, it has attacked naysayers with gratuitous and redundant lawsuits to the point of bankruptcy just to beat their enemies into the ground. It has killed people, through proven neglience and suspected malice. This must stop.
Further information can be found and disseminated at http://www.youfoundthecard.com
We work as many small units, mostly spread through friends and word-of-mouth. We remain anonymous because this organization has a history of destroying the lives of any who speak against it.
But COME ON, RICK! We love you, we want you to write us a protest song! IT SHALL BRING EPIC LULZ AND DELICIOUS CAKE FOR ALL.Sincerely,
