No summer reading

To:  Marblehead Public Schools

Summer reading, it has been part of summers everywhere, but most kids simply blow it off until the last minute, with school coming sooner every year. Summer should be a time of relaxation for children, three months of summer, vs. the nine months of school. Summer should be a time when kids everywhere can put down the books and go outside.

We propose that we reform the summer reading programs of Marblehead Public Schools to be fully optional, and/or allow students to choose their own books, by only providing the type of book (i.e. 3 fiction, 1 non-fiction)
