Justice For Andreea Raducan

Andreea Raducan was unfairly robbed of her AA Gold medal in the Sydney Olympics Games in 2000. She has waited so long and asked so many times for her medal back that all of the undersigned, wether gymnastic fans or not, have decided that we want to help return the medal to Andreea, where it belongs!

We, the fans, have great difficulty in seeing why her AA medal has not been returned sooner because of the following reasons :

1. Senior IOC (International Olympic Committee) member Jacques Rogge said: "The young girl is not to blame but the grave negligence of her doctor who has furthermore admitted he made a mistake in prescribing a medicine for a cold."
A senior member at the time also agreed that Andreea was not at fault, it was indeed the team docotor.

2. Pseudoephedrine, the drug which caused Andreea to fail the drugs test, had also been taken by Simona Amanar who laid in Silver medal position before the disqualification of Andreea. The reason for Andreea failing the test yet not Simona Amanar was purely because of their difference in weight. Also taking the drug, Pseudo-ephedrine, can be dangerous to those who take it without needing to.

3. Pseudoephedrine has been a legal substance in sports since 2003, and at the time of the 2000 Sydney Olympics, was recognised as a LEGAL substance by the FIG (Federation of International Gymnastics)but an ILLEGAL substance by the IOC (International Olympic Committee). The drug also causes drowsiness which would have only hindered her performance.

4. None of the 3 gymnasts set to medal higher than before Andreea's disqualification wanted to accept the medals. Simona Amanar, Maria Olaru and Liu Xuan all publicly announced they did not wish to recieve the medals.

5. Andreea trained for years to win the AA Gold in the Olympics only to have her dream shattered, on the day of the Floor Finals, which she was due to compete in. This news affected her performance that day. She finished 7th.

All we want is for Andreea Raducan to get the medal so worked so hard for, back with her, the rightful Olympic Champion.
