Say No To the Renaissance Square Project

To:  City of Rochester

The proposed plans for the Ren Square Project raise significant concerns for many reasons. For example, the proposed Bus Terminal will bring an unnecessary financial hardship to the RGRTA, Monroe County and/or the City of Rochester. As admitted by the RGRTA's CFO, it will require a 2.1 million annual subsidy (possibly payed for with YOUR tax dollars).

Also, the plans to bring a performing art center to the area are unrealistic. It requires hundreds of millions of dollars in private funding, ZERO of which they've currently raised. While they wait for years and years to raise this money, they propose building a grassy knoll where the performing arts center 'would' go. This will cost the city a fortune in lost property taxes, not to mention lost retail sales tax from the businesses currently located on the property.

By signing this petition, we request that the city of Rochester put their proposed plans for the Ren Square Project on hold until the public can review alternate plans that do not involve millions of dollars of annual losses.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned
