To: CUPEWe have heard about Resolution 50 passed at the 2006 Convention of the Canadian Union of Public Employees - Ontario Division (CUPE Ontario), and are concerned about the campaign being waged against CUPE Ontario for having done so.
We wish to state that we:
• Respect the right of CUPE Ontario members and the delegates to its Convention to decide on the policy of CUPE Ontario according to its constitution, and reject any efforts to disrupt this decision making process;
• Respect CUPE Ontario’s record of solidarity with the oppressed, both inside and outside the labour movement; and
• Respect CUPE Ontario’s initiative to educate its members and the entire labour movement on the plight of the people of Palestine, and to take practical action in defence of Palestinian human rights.
Sincerely,
