Recognition of Holidays and Worker's Rights |
To: The Government of The United States of AmericaWe the People of these United States, do petition the Government of this Nation to declare that all businesses provide a mandatory, paid day of vacation for their employees on all federally recognized and practiced holidays. We demand as such based on the following principles we hold dear as American Citizens:
1) That the family is the most important organization for maintaining social, psychological, and physical health in America.
2) That our nation is founded on the belief in the importance of the family unit in perpetuating the stability and greatness of Our Country.
3) That the gradual and dangerous trend of businesses forcing their employees to spend more and more holidays on the job and away from their families is contributing to the breakdown of the family units that maintain our stability and greatness, and has an extremely negative effect on the social, mental, and physical health of Our Citizens.
4) That this trend represents a subjugation of family and social structures to the forces of consumerism, which is simultaneously immoral, unhealthy, and detrimental to our economic stability and confidence.
5) That the workers who have built this nation through their sweat, blood, and toil, deserve to be recognized on all holidays and not torn from the arms of their families on these sacred days to be subjected to labor.
6) That businesses who engage in the practice of forcing their employees to work on holidays do not represent the interests of America, its Citizens, or its economy.
We, the undersigned Citizens of The United States of America, demand that Congress, the President, and the Judiciary IMMEDIATELY and UNCONDITIONALLY recognize the sanctity of National Holidays, as well as the social and physical benefits of allowing our hardest working Citizens a day of rest and family togetherness. We also demand that aforementioned government bodies make an IMMEDIATE declaration COMPLETELY and UNEQUIVOCALLY forbidding the use of any labor for any reason or by any means, paid or unpaid, on days previously or henceforth declared as national holidays. FURTHERMORE, we demand that said declaration also include a provision providing that if a holiday falls on a day normally designated as a weekend, the next occurring weekday shall also be provided as a day of rest.
We, the undersigned, do solemnly swear to spare no effort until the Government of The United States of America recognizes these demands fully and without any compromise whatsoever.Sincerely,
