Bill Ayers and USC |
The following statment has been issued by USC President Pastides, “it has been incorrectly communicated that Dr. Ayers holds the title of ‘Distinguished Scholar’ with the University of South Carolina. This is not true. The University of South Carolina has never given William Ayers the title of Distinguished Scholar. He has no title or ongoing formal connection with our University. . . .” It has also been communicated to me by the Museum Curator that it is "highly unlikely" that Bill Ayers will ever speak at USC again. I was also told that "Mr. Ayers career as a professional educator is likely over". Given these developments, I feel our petition has served it's purpose. We thank you for your support.
To: University of South Carolina Board of TrusteesLadies and Gentlemen of The University of South Carolina:
It has come to my attention that our beloved university has honored, and continues to provide a forum, to a known domestic terrorist, William Charles Ayers. I am embarrassed that we have bestowed upon this murderer the title of "Distinguished Scholar".
More exonerations can be found here --->> http://www.ed.sc.edu/museum/ayers.html
I am asking that the University of South Carolina renounce this honor and publicly rebuke the actions of Bill Ayers and his 1970’s group of terrorists.
Sincerely,
